Associate Professor Chaminda "Jaya" Seneviratne is a Clinician Scientist in Singapore and a leading expert in Molecular Oral Microbiology. His track record includes 75 publications in reputed international journals (h-index=29, i10-index=52, 2563 citations, Google scholar), 13 book chapters and an edited book "Microbial Biofilms: OMICS Biology, Antimicrobials and Clinical Implications" Taylor & Francis CRC Press, 2017. He has successfully secured over S$ 5.9 million in research grants from local and international funding agencies including Singapore National Medical Research Council (NMRC). His research team has received 20 prestigious awards from the International Association for Dental Research (IADR). A/Prof. Jaya was nominated for the Distinguish Scientist Award of the IADR Pharmacology/Therapeutics/Toxicology (PTT) group in 2017.
A/Prof. Jaya received his BDS (Hons) and MPhil in Periodontal Medicine from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. He obtained his PhD in Oral Microbiology at The University of Hong Kong (HKU) with the Outstanding Research Postgraduate Award. He completed an advanced Immunology course from HKU Pasteur Institute and Proteomics Bioinformatics course from the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI), UK. He served as an Assistant Professor at HKU (2010-2013) and at National University of Singapore (2013-2018). A/Prof Jaya's research group has ongoing studies on oral microbiome-systemic links. His research group has developed various in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo biofilm models and small-molecules-based drug discovery platforms.
