Profile

Dr Soong is a senior consultant at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, National Dental Centre Singapore. He received his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and thereafter completed the graduate residency programme in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, also at NUS, with a Master of Dental Surgery. He also obtained Fellowships of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and Academy of Medicine Singapore, and is an accredited Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with the Singapore Dental Specialist Accreditation Board. 

In 2012, Dr Soong was accoladed the Health Manpower Development Plan award by SingHealth to pursue further training in Advanced Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, where he spent 1 year in Switzerland as a Clinical Fellow focusing on facial trauma at Inselspital Bern University Hospital, during which he also obtained the degree of Doctor Medicinae Dentium by research.

Dr. Soong is involved with graduate teaching of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residents in the SingHealth Duke-NUS Oral Health Academic Clinical Programme, as a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the NUS Faculty of Dentistry, and is a Dental Advisor with the Healthcare Finance Division, Ministry of Health. He was most recently honoured as a Superstar Clinician at the Singapore Health Quality Service Awards 2020 and the Exemplary Service Excellence - Individual award at the Public Sector Transformation Awards 2020.
